Bang To Rights
I really should try to get more excited about the Black Craps winning a test overseas.
Yes, it was a decent fourth innings chase in a very challenging scenario. Under any circumstances, chasing down over 300 runs in the fourth innings should be applauded.
Particularly so when you have A Shocker De Silva umpiring at one end. It does make you wonder whether the bowlers are likely to trip over his cane and whether they should put covers on the pitch between overs to prevent his guide dog from peeing on the wicket.
However, the reality was that this was a game that the Black Craps did almost everything they could to lose. The game should have been over in the first hour except we forgot how to catch.
In our first innings, we forgot how to bat (which must be at least mildly concerning for the coaching staff).
The one exception of course was Dan The Man. 9 wickets, a couple of fifties and strong captaincy – take Dan out and the team would have lost. (Funny thing, I can save the sentence up for the AB’s!)
But why is Braces still there? Surely given he told them months ago he was out of here they could have appointed someone who cared more? It’s hard to belief that the coach does care less but on the basis of the performances, some of the players are still in pre-season mode.
The only thing satisfying about this test was that we managed to win while the Aussies lost to India.
